First I want to say thank you for taking the time to click the link and come read what I had to say. Today I want to talk about growth. We all want to grow in some areas of our life whether it’s mentally, physically, spiritually, or financially, but the majority of the time we’re held back from what our growth should be because we’re still holding onto things that aren’t good for us. I’m going to talk about the common 3 things that I normally see that holds us back from growth.

Toxic People.

We have people in our lives that we love dearly and would do anything for, but some people are detrimental to our growth. Well, LaDarius how do you define a toxic person? A toxic person to me is someone who is always negative, they never have anything good, or positive to talk about. They will shoot down your dreams just because they don’t think they could do it themselves so they will try to talk down on what you want to do.

Toxic people will almost always play victim to situations they caused without taking any accountability for their actions. No matter how hard you try to help them it gets nowhere because they have it set in their mind that’s who they are and it will stay that way until they are ready to change. Imagine it like this you’re trying to climb to the top of a mountain but you have toxic people hanging on to you by the legs, hips, shoulders and all. You will never make it to the top because they will steadily drag you down every time. LET THAT TOXIC WEIGHT GO!

Things of our past

None of us are perfect. We have all done things in our past that we are not proud of. I know I have and I am not ashamed to say it, but we have to let it go. You are not who you were many years ago or even a year ago. We put ourselves in mental prisons thinking “well I can’t do or be this because I used to do this”.

You have to change that mindset, and I am speaking to myself because I sometimes still put myself in a mental prison, box or bubble, and I have to check myself for it.  You have to forgive yourself, and move on from your past in order to the best you that you can be. It makes no sense for us to allow things of the past to hold us back from moving forward. Forgive yourself. God has already forgiven you and is ready to take you to the next chapter in your life.

We hold on to things that other people have done or said to us. Now we walk around carrying the weight of hatred, bitterness, anger, etc. I used to do this.  Being mistreated, bullied, and made the joke because of something that I couldn’t help which was the way I looked caused me to carry anger in my heart. I was mad on the inside because I couldn’t understand why I was being mistreated for something I couldn’t control. I wanted to fit in but I was “too ugly” to fit in, I was the friend that was good enough to talk to over the phone, but never the friend that was good enough to hang out with because people were scared of what others might say.Although I met all job qualifications I didn’t look the part.

All these things built up hatred inside of me towards people. Then I realized me holding on to all these negative feelings wasn’t doing me any favors. They are out living their lives not caring about me or what I had going on. Meanwhile I am sitting here holding myself back from my own destiny. I had to forgive them and let it go. Now when I say forgive and let go I don’t mean you have to go and be bestfriends with everyone. I know you all have heard the saying forgiveness is for you. It may sound cliche, but that really is the truth. We do things to God every day that are unpleasing to him, and yet he still forgives us. So who are we not to forgive anyone.

I hope I have left you with some seeds to take with you from this blog. Take pride in your growth. You deserve nothing but great things! Now is the time to stop settling for mediocre when you were designed to be great.  Thank you for reading and may your hearts be healed from anything that’s holding you back from your growth.
